Man and woman on motorcycle killed in head-on collision in Pell City

St. Clair County – A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 8:52 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, left a Pell City man and woman dead, according to Senior Trooper Vu Quang of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

“Dustin R. Layfield, 33, and Audrey M. Peine, 25, were both fatally injured when the 2009 Toyota Camry driven by Billy R. McAnnally, 35, of Chelsea, collided head-on with the 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle Layfield was riding,” Quang said. “Peine was a passenger on the Harley-Davidson. Both Layfield and Peine were ejected from the Harley-Davidson and were pronounced dead at the scene. McAnnally was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for medical treatment.”

The accident occurred on US 231 near the 221 mile marker, about one mile north of Pell City in St. Clair County.

No further information is available as ALEA Highway Patrol Division officers continue their investigation.
