Rosebud man convicted of two counts of sexual abuse | State

SOUTH DAKOTA – Eugene Hollow Horn Bear, 64, of Rosebud, South Dakota, was found guilty of two counts of sexual abuse following a two-day jury trial in Federal District Court in Pierre, South Dakota.

According to evidence presented at trial, the victim fell asleep in an abandoned car wash in Mission, South Dakota, on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation. When she awoke, she noticed Hollow Horn Bear touching her inappropriately.

The victim called for help, and another person pulled Hollow Horn Bear away from the victim. Hollow Horn Bear was then forced to leave the car wash.

A federal grand jury indicted Hollow Horn Bear in March 2024. The verdict was announced on August 21, 2024.

The charges against Hollow Horn Bear carry a maximum penalty of three years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine, five years' probation, and a $100 special levy to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Hollow Horn Bear was transferred to the custody of the US Marshals Service after the trial. His sentencing date has not yet been set.
