Man shot outside emergency room in Woodland Hills – NBC Los Angeles

On Friday, a doctor was shot dead outside a clinic in Woodland Hills, prompting police to investigate the shooter's whereabouts.

The shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. Friday on Topanga Canyon Boulevard south of Oxnard Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Division, the victim was on his way to his vehicle at the time of the shooting.

Several bullet casings were reportedly found next to the body. Police said the suspect fled the scene on foot. A description of the suspect was not immediately available.

According to LAPD investigators, the victim was identified as Dr. Hamid Mirshojae, who worked at Warner Plaza Medical Center.

A memorial was erected in front of the clinic, where many people laid candles and flowers, including some of Mirshojae's patients.

“He was a very nice guy. He looked a lot like my father too, so that really touched me and I was just very shocked to find out,” said Pania Mazaherei, a patient at the clinic. “He did everything for you, if you needed anything, he was always there for you, 24/7.”

The motive for the shooting is unknown.
