4 people, including 2 children, suffer serious injuries in an accident in Isanti County

Four people, including two children, were seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident in Isanti County on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Isanti County Sheriff's Office, officers were called to a crash at County Road 5 and Feldspar Street Northwest in Spencer Brook Township shortly after 11 a.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they found two heavily damaged vehicles. A man and a woman from one of the vehicles were flown from the scene to a city hospital with serious injuries.

The other vehicle was driven by a man who also had three children in the car. Two of the children suffered serious injuries in the accident and were taken to a nearby hospital and then flown to a city hospital.

According to preliminary information, a Chevy Traverse was traveling southbound on Feldspar Street Northwest and failed to stop at a stop sign at County Road 5, resulting in a side-on collision with an eastbound Honda Pilot.

The crash is currently being investigated.
