Tragic end to a marital dispute over his wife's social media addiction

A Marital dispute Due to the woman's addiction to making reel videos, her life ended when her husband allegedly killed her at Karkada near Saligrama on Friday, just eight months after their wedding. The deceased, Jayashree (31), originally from Donagapura in Bidar, was married to Kiran Upadhya (44), an assistant cook in temples from Gundmi, Sastan.

Jayashree was reportedly obsessed with creating and sharing videos on social media that often featured herself or her husband. Although she appeared happy in these videos, her relationship was strained. Her addiction to online shopping and demand for luxury items further exacerbated this, leading to frequent arguments.

Jayashree, who hailed from a family of temple priests in Bidar and belonged to the Panchamasali community, was previously married to a deceased man from Mangaluru. After marrying Kiran, the couple moved to a rented house in Karkada but often argued over gold and money. On Thursday night, a heated argument led to Kiran allegedly attacking Jayashree with a sickle.

After the incident, Kiran allegedly tried to cover up the crime by claiming that Jayashree had fallen. However, locals became suspicious and informed the police. The authorities took Kiran into custody and launched an investigation.

Police officials, including Udupi Additional SP ST Siddalingappa and DySP DT Prabhu, visited the crime scene. Jayashree's body will be handed over to her relatives on arrival in Kota.
