It will be difficult for French law enforcement authorities to charge Telegram messenger co-founder Pavel Durov, who was arrested the day before upon his arrival in Paris. He could be released in a few days, says lawyer Alexander Dobrovinsky.

“I think Durov will be released in two days. It is difficult to make claims against a person whose company has established its own private rules and acts according to them,” he told TASS.

Dobrovinsky clarified that if there had been a court decision in France and Telegram had not responded to it, Durov could have been charged. However, there was no such court decision.

“There is only a suspicion that he is writing something somewhere that they don't like,” he said.

The lawyer is convinced that Durov was lured to France and is trying to intimidate him with fear.

“If Durov does not give up and does not cooperate with the law enforcement agencies of the Fifth Republic, Telegram’s shares and reputation will skyrocket,” Dobrovinsky said.
