IDF names paratroopers killed in action in southern Gaza Strip; number of war deaths in army high

The Israeli military reported that Staff Sergeant Amit Tsadikov, 20, a soldier of the 202nd Parachute Brigade Battalion from Beit Dagan, was killed by an explosive device during fighting in the southern Gaza Strip.

In addition, a soldier from the 601st Engineer Battalion of the 401st Tank Brigade was seriously injured in the same incident.

On Saturday, the IDF announced that Sergeant First Class (res.) Danil Pechenyuk, 26, of Bat Yam, Sergeant First Class (res.) Nitai Metodi, 23, of Ashkelon and Sergeant Major (res.) Yaniv Itzhak Oren, 35, of Ein Gedi, fell in fighting in the Gaza Strip.

Danil Pechenyuk and Nitai Metodi were killed in a serious explosive device incident on Friday that also left Sergeant First Class (res.) Evyatar Atuar dead and seven other soldiers injured.

The death toll in the army since October 7 is 700, including 337 in ground operations in the Gaza Strip.

A total of 4,377 soldiers were wounded, 651 of them in serious condition. Since the start of the ground operation, the number of wounded soldiers has risen to 2,250, 423 of them in serious condition. According to the Israel Defense Forces, 24 soldiers are in hospital in serious condition, 171 in moderate condition and 8 in light condition.
