According to police, five unknown assailants looted the store and opened fire. Three people in the store suffered gunshot wounds and the owner died of his injuries in hospital.

The owner of a jewellery shop in Rajasthan died after being shot at during a robbery when a group of five people barged into his shop and held him and two others at gunpoint. The incident, which took place at the central market in Bhiwadi area of ​​Khairthal-Tijara district on Friday (August 23), was captured by the shop's CCTV cameras.

Police identified the deceased as Jai Soni, who was inside the shop along with his brother Madhusudan Soni and security guard Sujan Singh when the theft took place at Kamlesh Jewellers around 7.30 pm. Five unidentified persons, who came in a car, stormed the shop and attacked the trio, police said.

According to police, the accused looted the shop and opened fire, leaving Jai, Madhusudan and Sujan with bullet injuries. Jai succumbed to his injuries in hospital, they said.

Jai reportedly attacked the accused as they were looting the store. The robbers then ran outside and got into their car, but Jai followed them and tried to pull them out, after which they shot at him.

Anil Kumar Tank, Inspector General of Police, Jaipur, said police teams have been formed to search for and identify the accused through video footage. The injured are being treated at a local hospital, he added.

The traders' association held a protest and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused following the incident. BJP MP Baba Balaknath and senior police officials reached the protest site to talk to the traders and resolve the issue.
