Darshan, accused of murder, was caught smoking in prison. A leaked photo shows him laughing and relaxing in the garden.

Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa was arrested in Mysuru for the June 2024 murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, who was alleged to have sent obscene messages to his alleged girlfriend, actress Pavithra Gowda. Recently, a leaked photo showing him relaxing and smoking a cigarette in the prison garden was circulating on social media.

Darshan is getting the VVIP treatment at Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Jail. In the viral photo, the murder accused is seen holding a cup of tea and a cigarette in his other hand. According to Newsable, he was accompanied by violent bedsheeter Wilson Garden Naga and another inmate, Manager Nagaraj.

The report further states that an inmate named Velu took the photo to send to his wife and raise questions on social media about security violations in the prison system.

According to insiders, Darshan is enjoying a luxurious lifestyle in prison and is happy with his treatment. His prison facility reportedly has chairs for him to sit and chat, suggesting he is receiving preferential treatment.

Earlier, a former inmate, Siddharoodha, had stated that Darshan looked “pale” in prison. He told News18 that the actor had lost weight and was finding it difficult to adjust to food. “You can see from his face and eyes that he is regretful. He is trying to get through the day and is engrossed in reading.”

Siddharoodha added that Darshan spends most of his time reading books in the room. “He owns 15 to 20 books, including Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana and Mahabharata, besides autobiographies of Yogi and Vivekananda,” he added.

According to police, Renukaswamy, a diehard fan of Darshan Thoogudeepa, was murdered on June 8, 2024, at Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru for sending derogatory comments about Pavithra Gowda, an actress who is allegedly Darshan's girlfriend.

His body was found near a storm drain on June 9, 2024.
