Bangkok Post – More and more young drug dealers arrested

BURI RAM: Two minors were arrested on suspicion of selling illegal drugs in this northeastern province, raising fears that more young people are becoming drug dealers.

Police, military and provincial government officials on Sunday arrested a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old on suspicion of drug dealing in Tambon Isan in the province's Muang district.

The minors admitted to delivering Ya-Ba pills (a combination of methamphetamine and caffeine) on behalf of an elderly dealer who had fled to Laos to avoid drug charges, authorities said.

The two also led authorities to a hideout where 122,500 Yaba pills were found.

The suspects were taken to the Buri Ram Provincial Police Office for further questioning before being transferred to the Muang Buri Ram Provincial Police Station for court proceedings.

The news followed the arrest of five vocational school students on Saturday who were allegedly involved in a drug trafficking racket in the northeastern province.

In this case, authorities from the Buri Ram Provincial Police, Border Guard Police, military and Buri Ram Provincial Administration arrested five students aged between 19 and 20 and confiscated about 82,000 meth pills.

According to police, agents discovered that the five had been selling meth pills on behalf of an elderly person who had fled to Laos.

These students and the two minors arrested on Sunday are said to belong to the same drug network.
