Pedestrian killed in drunk driving accident on Mission Bay Drive in Pacific Beach

A man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in connection with the death of a pedestrian in Pacific Beach, authorities reported Sunday.

According to San Diego police, a man was running down the middle of the street on the 4200 block of Mission Bay Drive around 8:55 p.m. Saturday when the driver of a 2003 Subaru WRX failed to stop and struck the victim.

According to police, the pedestrian was partially obscured by a large pickup truck that had already stopped.

The pedestrian, whose identity was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 23-year-old driver of the Subaru was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
