Elon Musk warned he could be next to be arrested by the West because there is ‘no freedom of speech’ – London Business News

The arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov confirmed that there was no global freedom of speech. Elon Musk could be the next target of Western “justice”.

The chairman of the Fair Russia – Patriots – For Truth party and the faction in the Russian State Duma, Sergei Mironov, said it was obvious that there was no freedom of speech anymore, and that this had been the case for a long time.

This happened when 39-year-old founder of messaging app Telegram, Durov, left his private jet as it landed at Bourget airport near Paris on Saturday evening and he was arrested.

The billionaire technology magnate was arrested in France after an arrest warrant was issued against him following a preliminary police investigation.

According to BFM TV and TF1, the police investigation is focusing on the lack of moderators, and French officials believe that this has allowed criminal activity to flourish on Telegram.

US commentator Tucker Carlson, who interviewed Vladimir Putin earlier this year, believes Durov was arrested in France because he refused to “censor the truth,” he wrote on X.

Durov told Carlson in April that he wanted to keep Telegram “neutral” and “free of geopolitics.”

Mirono said: “The arrest of Pavel Durov has confirmed that there is no freedom of speech in Europe or even in the world (pro-Western). There hasn't been freedom for a long time. This is the subject of underhand negotiations, and if the bigwigs of the world don't like the result of the tender, anyone can be arrested, detained and imprisoned.”

“The Assange case showed this, and the Durov case has now confirmed it. Durov was wrong to fear that he could be arrested anywhere but in the West.

“All of these accusations that were made against Pavel can also be made against Zuckerberg. Only the latter does not have a Russian passport and has cooperation agreements with the US authorities.

“There is an opinion that the Russian secret services should now pay attention to French citizens, including mercenaries in Donbass, in order to prepare an exchange fund. But I think it is unlikely that Durov will be exchanged.

“Perhaps, as a result of the 'investigative measures', he will end up abroad, in a completely different country. In a country that has been pretending to fight for freedom of expression for decades, but in reality does the opposite.”
