Michigan Football receives NOA from NCAA in Connor Stalions case

According to Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports, the NCAA has officially served Michigan football its full notice of allegations. The NOA centers around Connor Stalions and his game sign-stealing scandal. The NCAA served Michigan the NOA just a few days before Stalions' Netflix documentary airs Tuesday.

ESPN got its hands on a NOA draft in early August, but Wetzel said the NCAA changed a few things from the draft ESPN released.

At this point, we don't know everything in the NOA, but we will continue to keep you updated as we receive more information.

The ESPN Draft reported that the NCAA threatened new head coach Sherrone Moore with a possible suspension for deleting a threatening 52 text messages between him and the Stalions. However, the Draft stated that this was not a Level 1 violation, but a Level 2 violation, meaning there were no incriminating incidents between Coach Moore and the Stalions.

The draft, which could still be amended, says Moore could face a citation penalty and possible suspension for allegedly deleting a thread of 52 text messages with former Michigan employee Connor Stalions in October 2023, the same day media reports said Stalions led an attempt to record future opponents' play calls. The draft says the texts were later recovered through “device imaging” and Moore “subsequently presented them to enforcement personnel.” Moore is accused of committing a Level 2 violation, according to the draft.

The draft, which ESPN got its hands on, also featured several former Michigan coaches such as Jim Harbaugh, Jesse Minter, Chris Partridge and Denard Robinson for recruiting rule violations. Coach Harbaugh was hit with a massive fine by the NCAA for the 2020 recruiting rule violations – nothing has happened yet in the Stalions' case. But since Harbaugh will likely never return to the college ranks, the four-year show cause doesn't mean much for the former Michigan head coach.
