Arlington County Police make crime data more visible with new online hub

There's a new way to track crime in Arlington County, and anyone can see the statistics.

There's a new way to track crime statistics across Arlington County, Virginia – and everyone will have access to those statistics.

The police department says the new Crime Data Hub displays criminal incidents reported in Arlington County. The data on the hub includes maps showing locations and details of crimes, as well as arrest data.

Police said the hub was evaluated by community groups to gain feedback before opening.

Data for the hub comes from the Federal Bureau of Investigations' National Incident-Based Reporting Systems (NIBRS) and is updated weekly on Wednesday mornings.

In addition, the Virginia State Police website provides a complete database of crimes reported annually in the state.
