Suspect arrested after fatal shooting in Mesa

PHOENIX — One man is dead and another is in jail following a fatal shooting in Mesa early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Officers responded to a call about an “unknown disturbance” near Mesa Drive and Main Street around 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Mesa police said.

They found a man who the caller believed was having a seizure. After firefighters arrived and began treating the man, they discovered the victim had a gunshot wound.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Identification will occur after next of kin have been notified.

The suspect, 39-year-old Antonio Marquez-Mora, left the scene but was found and arrested by officers in a nearby parking lot.

After being tracked down and questioned by police, Marquez-Mora was put in prison for premeditated murder.
