An important offensive rookie of the San Francisco 49ers is expected to be back on the field on Monday.

According to NFL Network Ian RapoportWide receiver Ricky Pearsall will return to practice after a break due to a shoulder injury.

After selecting him in the first round of the draft, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan will likely expect Pearsall to contribute early.

“I hope so,” Shanahan said when asked by NFL.com's Jeremy Bergman if Pearsall would be ready for Week 1. “We'll see how he does this week. I hope he comes to practice this week, and if he does, that's a pretty good sign that he could be available then.”

The 49ers selected Pearsall 31st overall after the Florida product had 965 receiving yards and four touchdowns in his final year with the Gators. He also had 62 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground, along with 126 punt return yards on 11 attempts.

Pearsall's return to the field comes amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who is currently holding back and has requested a transfer from the 49ers after a season-long break of failed contract negotiations.

While Aiyuk continues to hold out, Trent Williams, the 49ers' top offensive lineman, is also holding back, and it is uncertain whether he will play in Week 1. Star running back Christian McCaffrey has also missed some time during training camp with a calf injury.

With Week 1 just around the corner, the 49ers offense is still struggling with some issues, so knowing Pearsall is ready to play would be a huge relief for San Francisco.
