A technical problem with the engine of the CSMT-bound Latur Express near Kalwa station in Thane district disrupted local train services on the main Mumbai route on Monday morning (August 26), authorities said. They argue that using the 5th and 6th tracks between Kalyan and Thane stations could reduce congestion and minimise delays for long-distance trains.

40 lakh commuters use the Central Railway’s suburban services every day
