Throwback: When Justin Bieber shared his thoughts on fame at a young age and called it “the hardest thing in the world”

Pop sensation Justin Bieber, the man behind hits like “Baby,” “Friends,” “One Time,” and more, launched his career when he was signed to RBMG Records in 2008 at the young age of 15, and rose to fame after releasing his first debut album, “My World,” in 2009.

All kids of the late '90s will remember JB's songs and the sensation he caused when his pop-heavy debut studio album, “My World 2.0” (2010), debuted at the top of the US Billboard 200, making him the youngest male solo artist to do so in 47 years.

However, it is said that it was difficult for the star to become famous so early. In an interview with Billboard, the 21-year-old singer admitted that becoming famous before adulthood was “the hardest thing in the world.”

The young adult then admitted that this fame-based lifestyle was crazy and that a child's mental development could be affected if they were involved in the show business at a young age.

He gave the example of Kylie Jenner, saying: “Look at her world: she's lived on TV since she was a child. Every time she looks around she sees a camera, and that affects how she thinks and how she perceives people and why she has to do certain things… Situations that happen corrupt your mind, especially in this industry. Especially with girls.”

According to The Guardian, Bieber revealed at the time that fame almost destroyed him completely. He said he felt lost and told himself, “You're not good enough. People hate you.”

After working tirelessly for more than five years since he launched his career as a teenager, he earned $58 million between June 2012 and June 2013, according to Forbes. Bieber also announced his retirement and took a break from live shows and other large public events, but this time was also short-lived.

Bieber's entire existence has been defined by the internet, which has been both a blessing and a curse for the star. While he rose to fame thanks to his online fans and streaming success, the internet has also brought him a lot of ridicule.

Thirty years ago, you would only read about him in youth magazines or see him on music and talk shows on TV, and that was it. But today, on social media, every move of a celebrity is followed.

He also previously stopped a show in Norway after just one song and told the audience: “I'm done. I'm not doing the show.” After that, he did not perform live again until 2024.

As of 2024, Bieber seems to be back at the peak of his career. Earlier this year, he was in Mumbai, India, performing at a wedding hosted by Mukesh Ambani, the ninth richest man in the world.

Bieber has also become a father to a baby boy named Jack Blues Bieber, along with his wife Hailey Bieber. Justin announced the news on Instagram on August 23, 2024.
