20-year-old man dies in motorcycle accident in Woonsocket

(WJAR) — Friends of the 20-year-old North Smithfield man who died in an accident in Woonsocket mourn his loss

Joe Rossi was killed in a motorcycle accident on Truman Drive on Saturday evening.

Chief Thomas Oates confirmed that a 20-year-old man was taken to Landmark Hospital after he was involved in the accident shortly before 6 p.m.

He was later pronounced dead.

A friend of Rossi posted on social media: “This doesn't feel real, this isn't right at all.” Another wrote: “Life isn't fair… I'm at a loss for words right now.”

A North Smithfield High School graduate who visited Truman Drive on Sunday to pay his respects said the road is winding and needs better maintenance. “The roads,” Donnie Matos said, “in the city of Woonsocket, they need to be taken care of more.”

There is a temporary memorial at the site and the accident is currently being investigated.
