Fatal accident in Prince George's County under investigation

LANHAM, Maryland. – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal car crash that occurred early yesterday morning in Prince George's County.

The driver and sole occupant of a silver Nissan Altima involved in the crash was identified as Jason Jamal Harris, 38, of Temple Hills, Maryland, and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported at the scene.

Shortly before 2 a.m., officers from the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack responded to a reported traffic accident in the area of ​​Route 50 westbound, in the area of ​​the Interstate 495 southbound ramp.

According to the preliminary investigation, the Nissan driven by Harris was traveling west on Route 50 when, for unknown reasons, he lost control and collided with the concrete guardrail on the left shoulder of the highway.

The left lane was closed for over an hour for the accident investigation. The Maryland State Police College Park Barrack is leading the investigation. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
