Serge Gnabry is happy about FC Bayern's victory after an exhausting battle against Wolfsburg

Serge Gnabry believes that FC Bayern Munich's come-from-behind win against VfL Wolfsburg will be good for the club's morale and confidence.

Bayern Munich started the Bundesliga season with a win, but they had to work hard to get there. After controlling the first half, Bayern gave Wolfsburg the opportunity to get back into the game.

Jamal Musiala's opening goal was equalized by Lovro Majer, before the Wolfsburg midfielder scored again after a mistake by Kim Min-jae. But FC Bayern were not deterred by the deficit and turned the game around again. Ten minutes later they equalized with an own goal, before Serge Gnabry scored the decisive goal in the 82nd minute.

Bayern Munich's match winner spoke after the game about the fighting spirit that the team showed. “It was very difficult, very exhausting. We fought back after being 2-1 down. In the end, we are very happy with that and are happy to take it with us – good for morale, good for self-confidence. It was a very exhausting Sunday afternoon,” said Gnabry in an interview with DAZN after the game.

Gnabry also spoke about his decisive goal and praised Harry Kane and Thomas Müller for their role in the preparation. “I didn’t expect Thommy [Thomas Müller] to make it there, but he did a great job. Harry [Kane] Luckily he saw me and passed the ball right into my path. Luckily the ball hit the inside of the post and went into the goal.”

After a summer of speculation over his future, Gnabry's goal against Wolfsburg should be a huge confidence boost. The winger will be hoping to keep his place in the starting line-up this weekend when Bayern Munich play at the Allianz Arena for the first time this season – against SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga.
