Miami Dolphins provide update on Odell Beckham Jr. injury before final cuts

For now, the Miami Dolphins have some good news to offer regarding Odell Beckham Jr.'s injury.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel met with reporters the day before the deadline for finalizing the NFL's 53-man roster reduction and indicated that Beckham would not be on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list to begin the season.

Beckham was not on the list of names (Bradley Chubb, Cam Goode, Isaiah Wynn) who will start the year on the PUP list. That's an interesting twist considering the mysterious injury that has prevented Beckham from even practicing with the team since signing a one-year, $3 million contract in the offseason.

Even though Beckham begins the season on the 53-man roster, that doesn't mean he'll start training right away so quarterback Tua Tagovailoa can actually get comfortable with the role of star receiver on offense.

The Beckham injury saga dominated the conversations surrounding the Dolphins' training camp, with coaches giving vague updates and Beckham himself getting into arguments with fans about it on social media.

Adding to the excitement is the fact that Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle have also been dealing with minor injuries recently. One of the next players on the list, River Cracraft, could also miss the start of the season due to an injury sustained in the last preseason game.

If Beckham stays off the PUP and Non-Football Injury List (NFI), he could easily get back into the swing of things in the two weeks or so before the season starts. The Dolphins desperately need that around Tagovailoa, as the trio doesn't play together much in the summer. But if not, fans will at least get some sort of information when injury reports are released before Week 1.
