At the Canadian Open in June, Dougie carried Bob's bag as he claimed his first PGA TOUR victory, but this time, Dougie will bring his clubs to support Bob in the Team Championship.

“I'm really looking forward to playing at St Andrews,” said MacIntyre. “I can't believe there hasn't been a Scottish winner since 2005. It would be great if I could change that. I'm also incredibly excited to be playing in the team championship with my dad on the Old Course.”

“The fact that we are playing together in a real championship in the home of golf is just incredible. It was a very special moment for us when Dad was on the bag in Hamilton and we won. Now we can see what we can achieve together with clubs in hand.”

MacIntyre says Dougie, who works as course manager at Glencruitten Golf Club near Oban, close to his family home, has had a huge influence on his career over the years.

Dougie is also steeped in local shinty history, having scored two goals in Oban Camanachd's victory over Kingussie in the 1996 Camanachd Cup final. He is currently manager of Oban Celtic.

MacIntyre has had an excellent season, including winning the Genesis Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club in July. Victory at St Andrews will give him a memorable one-two and make him a star of Scottish golf.

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is a celebration of links golf, played from 3 to 6 October on the Old Courses of St. Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.

The event, which has a prize purse of $5 million, includes two separate competitions: an individual tournament for professionals of the world's best golfers and the team championship, which pairs the professionals with amateur golfers, creating a unique atmosphere.

Last year, England's Matt Fitzpatrick won the professional singles title and won the team championship alongside his mother Sue. It was the first time a mother and son had won, so Bob and Dougie have a goal to achieve.

In addition to Bob MacIntyre and Matt Fitzpatrick, golfers who have graced the fairways over the years include major championship winners such as Rory McIlroy, Ernie Els, Padraig Harrington, Shane Lowry, Brooks Koepka, Justin Rose, Sir Nick Faldo and Martin Kaymer. Other popular golfers who have played here include two-time winner Tyrrell Hatton, 2022 winner Ryan Fox, Tommy Fleetwood and Americans Billy Horschel and Tony Finau.

Entry is FREE for the first three days, no tickets are required. Only tickets for the final day, Sunday 6 October, on the Old Course must be purchased. To purchase tickets visit:

In June 2011, the Alfred Dunhill Links Foundation was established as the official foundation of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The Foundation is committed to supporting young amateur golfers in Scotland and South Africa and also supports the University of St Andrews and the St Andrews Pilgrim Foundation, which restores and preserves historic monuments in the city.
