A young woman is said to have sustained an injury during a police operation in a town in North Yorkshire.

North Yorkshire Police said they arrested a 36-year-old man in Station Parade, Harrogate, at 10.46am today (Monday 26 August) in connection with the incident.

It had previously been reported that a young woman had suffered a minor injury while walking on Cambridge Street at around 10:32 a.m., police said.

A police spokesman said the woman had been given a medical examination as a precautionary measure.

They added: “The suspect remains in custody for questioning. During a search of the suspect, a small sharp object was recovered.

“This is probably an isolated case that does not pose a major threat to the public.

“Witnesses and anyone with information or video footage of the incident are urged to come forward and assist with the investigation.”
