Police say no charges have been filed in the fatal road rage shooting in Valley View

VALLEY VIEW, Ohio (WOIO) – The Cuyahoga County District Attorney's Office will not file charges in the alleged homicide that occurred during a road rage incident in Valley View last week, according to a news release.

The BCI concluded that the shooting was the result of a traffic altercation.

Initial investigations revealed that 41-year-old Christopher Andexler, the man who was fatally shot, was the attacker in the incident.

Although no charges are being filed, the investigation and analysis of forensic evidence will continue and the results will be presented to the Cuyahoga County District Attorney's Office Self-Defense Committee for further action.

Valley View police said they received several calls around 9:45 a.m. Thursday about a man lying in the street next to a gray pickup truck after suffering a gunshot wound.

The man, Andexler, did not survive his injuries.

Valley View Police Chief David Niro also confirmed that a white minivan involved in the murder crashed on East Schaaf Road in Brooklyn Heights minutes after the shooting.

The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire, police said.

Bodycam footage from Brooklyn Heights showed police arresting a man and then searching the area for a woman who was allegedly also in the vehicle.

According to police, after the search, police found the woman with her two small children under the age of five.
