Father and little daughter die in generator accident in Las Tunas

A 30-year-old Cuban and his two-year-old daughter tragically died this weekend in Municipality of Amancio Rodríguez from Las Tunasapparently due to a gas leak from a generator, according to local authorities.

The deceased were identified as Enrique Hernández Zulueta and the young Vanessa Hernandez OrtizThe child’s mother, Denia Ortiz RiveraThe 31-year-old was found with shortness of breath and chest pains, but was alive, according to the official report.

The tragic event occurred in a house on the street “20 Aniversario” in Village Camblorwhich belongs to electoral district no. 58 of the People’s Council “La Carretera” in the aforementioned municipality of Las Tunas.

The report said Enrique Hernández Zulueta was found in the bathroom, while two-year-old Vanesa Hernández was discovered in bed in her mother's arms.

The official source stated that the unfortunate accident occurred “due to a carbon monoxide leak from a 1200-watt Saco brand generator owned by the family that was running in the house overnight.”
