Wilton youth group arrested for serious crimes

WILTON – Following a complaint received on August 17, Wilton police have arrested five people, including four juveniles, for a series of serious crimes against a 13-year-old boy.

According to the police report, the incident occurred the night before at a residence in the Wilton Mobile Home Park.

The victim, who was visiting the trailer park, was allegedly attacked with a weapon, threatened, held against his will in a mobile home, and robbed of his property.

Based on information from the victim and witnesses, investigators executed a search warrant for the apartment and seized the stolen goods.

Four Wilton youths, ages 12, 14 and 15, and a 16-year-old from Farmington were arrested and taken to the Long Creek Youth Development Center.

Ty Looney, a 23-year-old from Farmington, was also taken into custody.

The suspects are charged with, among others, robbery (Class A), aggravated assault (Class B), criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon (Class C), theft by unauthorized receipt or transfer (Class D), and criminal false imprisonment (Class D).

Looney was additionally charged with a violation of conditions of release (Class E) because he had previously been given a suspended sentence for criminal conduct.

The investigation is ongoing and Wilton Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

The youths arrested have previously been charged with a number of crimes in Franklin County, including theft, burglary, assault and others, but are unrelated to the current incident.

Police Chief Ethan Kyes released the report and stressed the department's commitment to thoroughly investigate and solve the case.
