18-year-old dies in accident on Highway 291 after driving into oncoming traffic

LIBERTY, Missouri (KCTV) – Liberty police are investigating a car crash that killed a teenager over the weekend.

On Saturday, August 25, at approximately 2:25 a.m., officers responded to calls of a two-car crash on Missouri Highway 291 at North Ash Avenue.

An investigation revealed that an 18-year-old was driving a Cadillac CTS4 north on Highway 291 when he crossed into the southbound lane and struck a Honda Pilot.

The Cadillac driver was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. Liberty police identified him as 18-year-old Brandon Durossette of Smithville, Missouri.

The driver of the Honda suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. No further information is available about his identity or current condition.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
