MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – Bail for the teenager accused of killing a 14-year-old girl and leaving her body near the Red River in Moorhead last week has been set at $1 million with conditions.

Isaac Arndt, 18, appeared in court in Moorhead for the first time after being extradited from Fargo on murder charges.

He faces up to 40 years in prison for the premeditated murder of 14-year-old Jaelyn Walker.

She would have started school this week as a freshman in Moorhead.

According to court documents, Arndt admitted to police that he stabbed his ex-girlfriend 13 times.

He initially claimed that they were followed in Gooseberry Park by an “unknown white man” who cut him off.

During the investigation, Arndt admitted to slitting Walker's throat, hugging her, stabbing her again in the back, and dragging her body to the river before fleeing the scene.

His next hearing is scheduled for September.
