Bryan maintenance worker arrested for allegedly sending explicit messages to 13-year-old girl

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Bryan police this month charged a 28-year-old man with harassment after he allegedly sent sexually explicit messages to a 13-year-old girl on Facebook in 2022.

Police say in court documents that the child lived in the same apartment complex where the suspect, Jesus Contreras Jr., worked as a maintenance worker.

Officials were notified of the allegations on October 8, 2022, after the girl's father discovered the message exchange between his daughter and Contreras on Facebook Messenger.

The apartment complex's management informed police that Contreras would be fired immediately.

According to the police report, Contreras sent approximately 40 messages to the child from September 7, 2022, to October 11, 2022. Some of these messages were reproduced in the police report and show that Contreras told the girl “I love you” and told her explicit sexual desires he had for her.

The messages reveal how Contreras was able to find out what school she attended after finding her ID on the property. He also questioned her about the apartment she lived in and who drove the car in front of it. He also allegedly sent her a message after he was fired.

Bryan police conducted a follow-up interview with the child, who said she had never met Contreras in person and did not know who he was when he contacted her online. She brought the messages to her father, who then notified police.

When police spoke to Contreras in December 2022, he told them he did not know the girl's age, even though the ID found identified her as a middle school student.

Online jail records show Contreras was arrested in January 2023 and charged with online solicitation of minors under the age of 14. He was released on $20,000 bail.

On a new harassment charge, Contreras was booked into the Brazos County Detention Center on Thursday, August 15, 2024, and released the next day on $2,000 bail.
