“As mayor and lifelong resident of Dearborn, I am eternally grateful to the members of the Dearborn Police Department for their tireless efforts to keep our neighborhoods safe,” said Dearborn Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud. “Under Chief Shahin's leadership, the department has made incredible progress in building trust through successful community policing initiatives, implementing cutting-edge technology, and prioritizing exceptional police training and workforce development.”

Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said the police department is pleased that its efforts have resulted in an overall decrease in crime over the past 12 months.

“The safety of our residents is our top priority and we will continue our work to ensure the highest levels of safety in our neighborhoods and on our streets,” Shahin said. “The rate of car crashes and reckless driving incidents is appalling and it is up to all of us to make improvements in the coming year.”
