Clemson's lineup against Georgia will not be released until Saturday

CLEMSON – Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney and Georgia's Kirby Smart began their chess game five days before kickoff.

The 14th-ranked Tigers have released their Week 1 game notes ahead of Saturday's game (noon ET, ABC) against the top-ranked team in the country, but neither team has revealed its roster.

Clemson typically announces its roster on the Monday or Tuesday before each game, but declined to do so this week. Game notes state, “Clemson's initial roster for the 2024 season will be available on game day at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.”

Smart traditionally did not have a lineup for Week 1. The Bulldogs' game notes do not include a section for either team's lineup. Clemson's game notes state, “Please see Georgia's game notes for details and insight on team personnel.”

Saturday's game is the highest-seeded matchup of the first week and is already sold out. The Peach Bowl is paying both schools $5 million to participate.

This is the first of five scheduled meetings between Clemson and Georgia over the next 10 years. The Bulldogs defeated the Tigers 10-3 in their last meeting in 2021 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Georgia enters the race as a double-digit favorite, but Clemson is confident it can pull off an upset.
