Two people arrested for shooting at intersection of Main Street and East 8th Street in Hattiesburg

Two Hattiesburg residents have been arrested in connection with a shooting at the intersection of Main Street and East 8th Street in the Hub City that left one man injured last month.

On July 25 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Hattiesburg Police officers responded to a call of a shooting at the corner of these two streets, where they found a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his non-life-threatening injury.

While investigating the incident, officers identified two suspects, 25-year-old Keon Ray Shawn Griffin and 27-year-old Jasna Nicole Wright, both of Hattiesburg. Warrants were issued for their arrests and on August 22, Griffin and Wright were transported from Lawton, Oklahoma to Hattiesburg.

Both individuals were taken to the Forrest County Correctional Facility and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Law enforcement authorities concluded that the shooting was an isolated incident.

The case remains under investigation and more information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
