Mission Viejo man arrested in summer bank robbery spree – Orange County Register

A 30-year-old Mission Viejo man suspected of being involved in at least six bank robberies or attempted robberies in Orange County was arrested last week in the latest attempted robbery, the Orange County Sheriff's Department said Monday, Aug. 26.

The suspect was arrested Friday, Aug. 23, as he attempted to rob a U.S. Bank in the 5000 block of East Santa Ana Canyon Road in Anaheim, authorities said.

He is accused of committing two bank robberies in Mission Viejo and Ladera Ranch, as well as four other attempted robberies, all in July and August, the sheriff's department said.

The agency stated:

  • On July 8, the suspect allegedly robbed a bank in Mission Viejo in the 26000 block of Marguerite Parkway and attempted to rob another bank in Ladera Ranch in the 27000 block of Crown Valley Parkway.
  • On August 6, an attempted bank robbery occurred at a bank in Ladera Ranch.
  • On August 7, the suspect is accused of robbing a bank in Ladera Ranch and then robbing a bank in Mission Viejo.
  • On August 23, the suspect was arrested while attempting to rob the US Bank in Anaheim.

The suspect presented a note during each bank robbery, Sergeant Frank Gonzalez said. Details about whether weapons were used or the amount reported stolen were not released.
