Miami fake rideshare driver allegedly assaulted female passengers in jail – NBC 6 South Florida

A man who posed as an Uber driver and pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting and robbing two women last year is back in prison after being released on parole.

Now Yadir Gongora is accused of raping two other women on two separate occasions who also thought they were getting on a rideshare.

Police arrested the 39-year-old on Friday after saying DNA evidence linked him to the crimes last year. The first woman was 22 years old. According to an arrest form, she went out for drinks with some friends in Brickell in August of last year. When it was time to leave, her cell phone battery died and she lost her friends.

She didn't remember getting into a car to go home, but the police report says she remembers waking up and seeing a man on top of her, sexually assaulting her. She tried to push him away, but couldn't.

Another man was allegedly in the passenger seat. According to the warrant, he told her to get out and left her outside a grocery store four and a half hours after the woman lost her memory. Investigators said Gongora's DNA matched a rape kit.

And in September of last year, the other woman he allegedly raped was 21 years old. After a night of drinking with her friends, the woman couldn't remember getting into a car to go home. But when she woke up, she had already been dropped off near Hialeah and the 826.

She told investigators she had her underwear in her purse and her phone, wallet and camera were missing. A rape kit was created and Gongora's DNA reportedly matched as well.

Gongora was previously arrested in October last year after police said he posed as an Uber driver before sexually assaulting and robbing two other women. Gongora pleaded guilty in May and was sentenced to probation.

When he was arrested on the new charges last week, Gongora told police: “He offered people rides to clubs in Downtown Wynwood… he was operating on his own and not through an official ride-sharing app – and – admitted to giving rides to intoxicated patrons leaving the clubs.”

Since bail has not yet been set, Gongora will not be released any time soon. He is accused of sexual assault, kidnapping and robbery.
