Police chase in West Allis ends in accident; driver arrested, officers injured

WEST ALLIS, Wisconsin – A 24-year-old man was arrested after leading West Allis police officers on a chase Sunday.

Shortly before midnight, West Allis police noticed a speeding vehicle and attempted to stop it.

According to police, the driver fled, and officers began a pursuit. The driver entered I-894 southbound at W. Greenfield Ave. and exited at W. Lincoln Ave. before losing control of his vehicle.

Her vehicle crashed through a fence and overturned, landing back in the southbound lanes of I-894.

The 24-year-old driver and his 18-year-old passenger were arrested and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver was arrested on several charges, including OWI injury to persons, fleeing from police, 2and-Degree of reckless endangerment of safety and possession of THC.

The passenger was treated for his injuries but was not arrested. According to police, he was only charged with THC possession.

Two officers were injured, one while approaching the crashed vehicle on foot and another while assisting the first officer. Both were taken to a hospital and treated for their injuries.
