Jerusalem man charged with sexual assault of a minor and use of date rape drugs – Crime in Israel

A Jerusalem resident is suspected of sexually abusing a minor and selling date rape drops at a party near Beit Shemesh, police said in mid-July.

After a report was filed of serious sexual crimes at a party, the Jerusalem District Police launched an investigation into the incident, which led to the identification and arrest of the suspect.

According to police, it is believed that the suspect drove the victim home, gave him a date rape drug and committed the alleged sexual assault before returning to the party location.

Arrested for sexual offenses

Shortly after his arrest, an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect, a Jerusalem resident in his 40s, whose contact details are protected by a judicial news gag order to protect his identity during the ongoing investigation and trial.

After a search of the suspect's apartment, during which the police found large quantities of various drugs, he was taken to Beit Shemesh police station for further questioning about sexual offenses.

The alleged crimes include sodomy against minors, drug trafficking to minors and indecent acts with minors.

The suspect's pre-trial detention was extended until August 20.
