Ohio mother arrested after her son was attacked by a pit bull while being restrained

A mother was among three people arrested last week after her 6-year-old son was attacked by a pit bull in an Ohio home while he was handcuffed at the hands and feet, police said.

The young boy was bitten in the neck and ear around 5 p.m. on Aug. 17 and was flown by helicopter from the Savannah home to a hospital in serious condition, the Ashland County Sheriff's Office said.

After the attack, sheriff's investigators found the boy was handcuffed and bound when the vicious dog attacked him, authorities said.

A search warrant for the home where the attack occurred uncovered evidence that led to the Aug. 19 arrest of the boy's mother, Angelina Williams, and Robert Michalski Jr., believed to be the boy's great-uncle, according to a WOIO report.

“I come in, I look at my grandson sitting on the floor, and I don't want to swear, but why the hell is he handcuffed,” the boy's grandmother told the station. “I said take them off him right now.”

The grandmother reached out to help her grandson and was slightly injured in the ordeal.

Williams, a Cleveland native, lived in the home with a member of Michalski's family who owned the house and the dog.

He was found hiding with the dog in a cabin on the upper floor of the house before he was taken into custody.

As authorities responded to the incident, Michalski and his dog reportedly fled the home but later returned.

The mother's boyfriend, Taylor Desiree Marvin-Brown, was also arrested after allegedly helping to detain the boy, the sheriff's office said.

According to the sheriff's office, the pit bull was also taken away by police.

Williams is charged with child endangerment, while Michalski is charged with child endangerment and tampering with evidence, WOIO reported.

Marvin-Brown is reportedly charged with child endangerment and obstruction of justice.
