Forbes Asia releases fourth edition of “100 To Watch” list

SINGAPORE (27 August 2024) – Forbes Asia today released the fourth annual edition of its 100 to Watch list, which highlights emerging small businesses and startups in the Asia Pacific region. The 100 to Watch list can be found here and in the September issue of Forbes Asiais sponsored by FedEx.

“Startups at our fourth Forbes Asia The companies on the 100 To Watch list have raised a total of over $2 billion in funding to date, with 83 of these companies raising capital since the beginning of 2023. This investment inflow has been driven by their innovations, which span some of the world's hottest industries such as space technology, biotechnology and robotics. Their ambitions and achievements so far paint a positive picture for the future of the Asia Pacific startup ecosystem,” said Rana Wehbe Watson, Editorial Director/Special Projects at Forbes Asia.

The offerings of these 100 companies vary widely, ranging from AI navigation systems for space exploration to cutting-edge cell therapies to advanced medical diagnostics. There are fintechs addressing the needs of the unbanked and retailers using digital channels to appeal to a new generation of consumers.

This year's list includes companies from 16 countries and regions operating in a total of 10 industries, such as enterprise technology and robotics, finance, and manufacturing and energy. India, a hotbed of startups, has the largest presence this year with 20 companies, followed by Singapore (15), mainland China (10), Japan (9) and Indonesia (8).

To select the “100 to Watch” list, Forbes Asia solicited online submissions and invited accelerators, incubators, universities, venture capitalists and others to also nominate companies. To be considered, companies had to be headquartered in Asia Pacific, be privately owned and for-profit businesses, and have annual revenue of no more than $50 million and total funding of no more than $100 million as of August 7. Forbes Asia editors evaluated each submission, weighting factors such as influence and contribution to their industry and region, market fit, promising business model, innovation, track record of consistent revenue growth and ability to attract funding.
