Pakistan have been deducted six points in the World Test Championship (WTC) table while Bangladesh have been deducted three points for maintaining a slow over rate during the first Test in Rawalpindi, the ICC said on Monday. Bangladesh recorded a historic first Test win against Pakistan on Sunday. The historic win came after 14 matches against Pakistan in which the Tigers had suffered 12 defeats and managed just one draw. This was Bangladesh's first Test win by 10 wickets. Pakistan were six overs short of the target and were therefore deducted six WTC points and penalized 30 percent of their match fee.

Bangladesh were three overs short and were given three WTC points and a fine of 15 percent of the match fee.

“Hosts Pakistan bowled six overs short and lost six WTC points, while visitors Bangladesh were deducted three points for bowling three overs short of the acceptable quota,” the ICC said in a press release.

Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to breaches of the minimum over rate, players are fined 5 percent of their match fee for each over their team fails to complete within the allotted time.

In addition, a team will be deducted one point for each Over Short in accordance with Article 16.11.2 of the WTC Playing Conditions.

Pakistan slipped to eighth place in the nine-team WTC points table after the defeat, while Bangladesh are in seventh place.

In addition, Bangladesh's star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was fined 10 percent of his match fee and received a penalty point for violating the ICC Code of Conduct.

The second and final test will also be played in Rawalpindi starting Friday.
