NATO comments on incident involving “air object” that entered Poland

NATO has pointed out that during the all-out war, wreckage of missiles and drones used in Russia's attacks on Ukraine have been found on several occasions on the territory of neighboring NATO member states. Such actions by Russia are “potentially dangerous.”

Details: The spokesman pointed out that since the beginning of Russia's all-out war against Ukraine, wreckage of Russian combat drones and missiles has repeatedly been found on the territory of NATO member states.

  • Following Russia’s large-scale attack on Ukraine on the morning of August 26, Poland reported a violation of its airspace by an “air object,” likely a kamikaze drone.
  • Maciej Klisz, commander of the operational command of the Polish Armed Forces, explained that the object flown in from Ukraine was not shot down because of weather conditions.
  • Polish media reported, citing military sources, that they were inclined to believe that the drone was a Shahed and that it had been in the country's airspace for at least 33 minutes.
