“Tried to cover up the crime”: Mother

Sandip Ghosh was sacked from his post as principal of Calcutta National Medical College And Hospital by the West Bengal Health Department for mismanagement of heinous crimes. Ghosh had resigned from his post as principal of RG Kar College following a huge outcry over the brutal sexual assault and murder of the doctor, which sent nationwide shockwaves and sparked protests across India.

Not only the public, but also the former headmaster was strongly criticised by the Calcutta High Court and the Supreme Court of India for making the victim's doctor's family wait for so many hours before they could see their daughter. The victim's mother told police that she received a call from the hospital administration saying that the doctor had committed suicide. It was an attempt to cover up the matter, the mother added.
