Viral video: Doctor attacked by patient while on duty, incident recorded on video surveillance

After the alleged rape and murder at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, people across the country called for increased security measures for doctors. Now, a new attack has come to light in Andhra Pradesh. The latest attack involved a female doctor who was reportedly attacked while on duty. The video of the attack went viral on social media.

In a 27-second CCTV video, a young doctor at the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) in Tirupati is seen being brutally attacked by a patient. The footage shows the doctor being dragged by her hair and her head being hit against the steel frame of a hospital bed. The footage also shows that other doctors in the ward immediately came to her aid.

Accordingly NDTV According to reports, the doctor, who works as a junior doctor at the hospital, was attacked in the emergency room. The victim wrote a letter to Dr RV Kumar, the director and vice-chancellor, detailing the incident. In the letter, she wrote, “…I was unexpectedly attacked by a patient, Bangaru Raju, who approached me from behind, pulled my hair and started violently hitting my head against the steel bar of a cot,” the daily quoted as saying.

She added: “If the patient had been armed with a sharp weapon, the situation could have escalated and had serious consequences,” quoted by ^ “NDTV: The return of the superlatives”.

In their comments on the viral video, users on X expressed their frustration and concern.

One user commented: “Kuch nhi hoga. Ham aise hi bhugat te rahenge. Yhi hamari life reh gyi hai”

Another said: “Instead, the government glorifies unnecessary issues and even when you see what is happening to the doctors, they do nothing about it.”

“The strike should not have been called off without a central protective law coming into force,” added another.

Another user commented: “The patient was probably suffering from alcohol withdrawal syndrome, but the lack of security inside is disheartening.”
