Lexington man accused of murder appears in court Tuesday

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (WKYT) – A Lexington man accused of murder is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning.

Luis Ramos is accused of killing Daquan Collins after he was found lying in his driveway on Delaware Avenue.

Witnesses told police that Collins tried to break into his home where his children were.

Emergency personnel took him to the hospital, where he later died.

Ramos called 911 and admitted that he shot Collins, but claimed he did it in self-defense. His statement, however, did not match witness accounts.

After police searched his vehicle, they found hollow-point ammunition and arrested him on the spot.

Collins' aunt, Tasha Collins, says his family still lacks answers.

At Tuesday's court hearing, which begins at 8:30 a.m., more information about the Lexington police report is expected to come to light.
