Sean O'Malley talks about a possible future crossover boxing match against Floyd Mayweather

UFC bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley had previously hinted that he wanted to fight boxer Gervonta Davis in the future, but now he is considering possibly facing Floyd Mayweather.

After defeating Conor McGregor in the boxing ring in one of the greatest combat sports events of all time and improving his record to 50-0, Floyd Mayweather continued to lace up his gloves and fight in exhibition matches for the past six years.

Current UFC Bantamweight Champion Sean O'Malley is emerging as a true star in the UFC and has previously spoken about his desire to fight in the boxing ring, mentioning names such as Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia.

Sean O'Malley talks about a possible future fight against Floyd Mayweather

“Money” Mayweather fought last weekend in another exhibition fight against John Gotti III, his first in two years.

As expected in an exhibition boxing match, something extremely bizarre happened when Mayweather replaced the referee in the middle of the fight because the referee had stopped the fight by claiming that the 47-year-old was hitting Gotti III on the back of the head.

After a change of referee, the fight continued and the two fought out the eight rounds of two minutes each.

Although it was an exhibition fight, “Suga” praised Sean Mayweather and said that he looked great throughout the fight despite his age of 47.

“The first couple of highlights I saw from rounds one and three, Floyd was taking him down and looking pretty damn good doing it. Like pull 2s, that was pretty damn awesome,” O'Malley said on the latest episode of the Timbo and Sugar Show.

O'Malley's head trainer Tim Welch then asked the 29-year-old whether it would even be possible for him to compete against Mayweather in a crossover boxing match.

“Me against Floyd? I'd love that, that would be crazy. To just catch him at the end, take him out and put him back in,” O'Malley replied.

Having already promoted a crossover fight with Mayweather, the UFC could potentially consider a repeat with arguably its biggest active star right now, O'Malley.

Whether it happens during Suga's UFC career or not, he revealed that he will definitely do it when he's done with MMA.

“Demonstration shit? 100% (that's what I'm doing when I'm done with MMA),” he added.

Sean O'Malley predicts a left-hand knockout against Merab Dvalishvili

Before O'Malley can even consider participating in a crossover boxing match, he must first defend his UFC bantamweight title against Merab Dvalishvili in a historic event at the Las Vegas Sphere.

The two will face off in the main event of the one-off event at UFC 306 on September 14. If the champion scores a left-hand knockout as predicted, his fame will continue to rise and he will soon be in line for a major crossover fight.

“With the left hand to the choppers, I feel like I'm either going to hit brutally, so, I know I'm going to hurt him, eventually I'm going to hurt him, but then it could just end in a brutal KO.

“Absolutely. It wasn't a good weight cut, it wasn't a good training camp, and he just didn't sleep well. Five or six punches add up and the last one puts him on the mat, snoring and with a crooked nose,” O'Malley predicted.
