The city police's suggestion came after a photo of Darshan surfaced on social media on Sunday showing him hanging out with three others, including a rowdy, on the lawn outside the jail, sparking an argument.

In the picture, the actor is seen in a relaxed mood, sitting on a chair and holding a cigarette and a coffee cup. A purported video of Darshan talking to a person through a video call from prison has also surfaced on social media. Nine prison officials, including the superintendent of the prison, were suspended on Monday for allegedly giving special treatment to Darshan, who is currently in remand. S

Addressing reporters, Dayananda said that three cases have been registered in connection with the jail incident. One of the cases is being investigated by a deputy superintendent of police and the other two by inspectors. Referring to the cases, he said that in jail matters, the court's permission is required and the police are in the process of obtaining it for a detailed investigation.

The cases were registered under the Prisons Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). “On Saturday, when a team of the Central Crime Branch checked all the barracks of the prison, we did not find any incriminating material or evidence based on the information that certain rowdies were involved in illegal activities. Now we have information that certain things might have been shifted somewhere else before we reached there. An investigation is underway in this regard,” he said.

Dayananda said that many violent elements are lodged in the Parappana Agrahara jail after being arrested under the Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act (KCOCA). “Since there is a possibility that they (the violent offenders) may get involved in illegal activities, we have asked them to be shifted elsewhere. Besides the violent elements involved in the Renukaswamy murder case who are now under suspicion, we have also asked them to be shifted elsewhere,” he added.
