Caleb Plant talks about the upcoming fight with Trevor McCumby

Caleb Plant gives an in-depth interview to Fight Hub TV's Marcos Villegas to talk about a number of topics including his upcoming fight against Trevor McCumby, his frequent altercations during boxing matches and more. Check out some excerpts of Plant's statements, the full video interview is above.

Plant about McCumby's doubts about his wish

“We'll find out on September 14th. He's talking about 'Caleb, he doesn't want it, he lives in silk sheets, lives in a huge house.' Yes, I live in a huge house, because that's what happens when you respect the sport. Maybe if he respected the sport, if his test wasn't positive, if he didn't wait until he was 31, 32 to have a big fight, he'd be in a huge house too. He's talking about 'Who wants it?' We'll find out who wants it.”

Plan to be frequently at the center of conflict in fights or other

“I don't know, I'm not playing the victim or anything, but I don't know what it is. I mean, honestly, I feel like it partly has to do with the way I look. I've dealt with that a lot my whole life. And again, I obviously don't like having a victim mentality, because if they want to see what it is, we can do that, that's not a problem for me.

“I'm not looking for trouble, but I'll be damned if someone is going to just walk up to me and put their hands on me or grab my face or shove me or try to mess with me, especially when I'm standing with my wife. Come on, man. That's not going to work. I'm a grown man, you're a grown man, so treat me like one. Or if you don't know what respect is, I'll show you what it is.”

On the difference between the duel with Canelo and the duel with Benavidez

“They definitely have different styles. I think Canelo hits harder with one punch, he hits harder than David. But David combines them pretty well, better than not just Canelo but most people in boxing. So David can work together really well and they both have their advantages and disadvantages, they both have underrated defense, they both are sharp. They're both great fighters. There's a difference in styles, but they're both great at what they do.”
