Rochester police investigate second apartment shooting in less than 7 days

ROCHESTER, MN (KROC-AM News) – Rochester police are investigating a shooting that occurred at an apartment complex Monday evening.

Communications coordinator Amanda Grayson said officers responded to a report of shots fired around 9:30 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found empty shell casings.

Grayson says the shooting occurred at the Villages of Essex Park apartment complex in the 1100 block of Northwest 41st Street.

According to the police report, no one was apparently hit by the shots, but two vehicles and the exterior of a residential building were hit by the bullets.

No arrests have been announced so far. The investigation is ongoing, Grayson says.

Monday night's shooting came less than a week after a shooting at an apartment complex in southeast Rochester.

Police said they found evidence that the bullets entered two apartments in the apartment complex in the 800 block of 16th Avenue Southeast on the evening of August 21.

No injuries were reported and no arrests were announced in that shooting. Police said at the time it appeared the suspect or suspects had targeted the building that was hit by the gunfire.
