Texan arrested in Marion County for child abduction

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WDTV) – A Texas man was arrested in Marion County over the weekend on child abduction charges.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Department, 30-year-old Jhoan Requena-Carrion was stopped on I-79 while transporting a runaway/missing juvenile from Lexington, Kentucky.

Dispatchers called the gas station, received a description of a vehicle with Texas plates with a woman inside and a man filling up with gas, and were able to notify officers, who conducted a traffic stop on I-79.

During the traffic stop, officers were able to identify the teen using U.S. Department of Health and Human Services records and determined she was a runaway or missing person from Lexington. The teen's father had reported her missing earlier that day, officers said.

Requena-Carrion said he received a call from the girl's mother asking him to drive her from Lexington to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. However, the father told officials he knew nothing about the plan and never agreed to have her ride with him.

Requena-Carrion is accused of child abduction and is currently in
