Ainias Smith injured: Eagles rookie begins season on the injured list

The Eagles have a good news and bad news situation with rookie WR Ainias Smith. The rookie wide receiver reportedly felt unwell after the team's third preseason game and underwent an MRI on Monday. The results showed Smith will be out approximately 4-6 weeks, landing him on the team's injured list.

Injuries are never good, but the timing was at least a little advantageous. The Eagles can put Smith on the injured list and thanks to a new rule, the season won't end there, plus a roster spot will open up right before the deadline. Teams can bring back two players who start the season on the injured list, and that way they can carry an extra WR in the meantime.

Smith's training camp has been full of ups and downs, but he has continued to improve over the weeks. On Saturday against the Vikings, the receiver completed 6 of 9 passes for 36 yards, including a first down.
